Answer

The Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) is a collection of online reference books available to all Alabamians through the Alabama Virtual Library (www.avl.lib.al.us). Huntsville-Madison County Public Library has purchased additional GVRL titles, and these titles are only available to HMCPL card holders.

Titles include books on health, business, literature, science, and history.

To access all GVRL titles (AVL and HMCPL purchased titles):

  • Visit www.hmcpl.org.
  • Click on "My Digital Library" in the top left-hand corner of the screen.
  • Type in your library card number and four digit PIN.
  • Scroll down until you see "Gale Virtual Reference Library." Click on it, then click "Proceed." You're in!
