Q

Where did you purchase the book shelves for the easy reader books? One can flip through books to see covers, thus enticing children to want to check

them out.

Thanks for asking this question.  It's actually something our Youth Services department gets asked a lot, so I'm glad you brought it up.  They came from a local record store.  The store was closing and thought the Library might be a good recipient for their record bins.  If you look closely at the shelves the next time you visit the Library, you'll see a brown rubber bumpy surface at the bottom of the bins.  While this works very nicely to hold picture books while flipping back and forth, it was actually designed to be used with the record albums.  These bins are perfect for our picture book collection, but they were not intended to ever be used in this manner. We have looked for products similar to this and never located any.  From time to time, libraries call and ask us for the dimensions of these shelves so that they can create something similar.  If you are interested in these dimensions, the shelves are 32 inches tall, 44 inches long, and 38 inches wide (that width being divided by the two bins, one in front and one in back).

Please let me know if you need any other information.
