"Beacham's Guide to the Endangered Species of North America" is available through the Alabama Virtual Library ( under the "Gale Virtual Reference Library."  This resource presents extensive data on the habitats and ecosystems of more than 1200 species identified as endangered by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.  Each entry includes basic information about the species including an image of the animal, a concludng summary of current recovery efforts, and a bibliography of contacts for further information.  This resource is appropriate for middle school students and above.
