Answer

Nonprofits must create a “page,” not a “profile” for their organization. Nonprofits using a profile are in violation of Facebook’s usage policies and are subject to losing access to their profile and all its content.

Advice:
Limit the number of admins in order to create a distinct “voice” for your page.
You may create levels of access among admins.
Engage your followers by posting photos, asking questions, and soliciting opinions.
Do not post a question and fail to monitor response. You will get more traffic if you respond to people who post, creating a conversation.
Post regularly. Create a schedule if necessary.
Find out when your followers are on FB. This will take experimentation.
When creating a contest, use a 3rd party app like RaffleCopter. You can violate usage policies if you fail to use a 3rd party.
Don’t just talk about yourself. Talk about the work of other organizations. Like other pages. Repost relevant content from other pages.
Tag other organizations in your post so the content will be “weighted” more heavily. You will get more reach doing this. To tag an organization in your post, use the “@” before the name of the organization. FB will autosuggest the right org.
Post “behind-the-scenes” type of pictures and info. It will appeal to users’ voyeuristic side.
