Where can I find good online information on preparing for civil service exams?
The Library provides access to an excellent online collection of study guides called "Learning Express Library" that includes sample prep tests for Civil Service and clerical tests. This source can be accessed through the Library's web page (hmcpl.org), selecting "Online Resources," and then choosing "Learning Express." You will need to ask a library staff member to create an account with Learning Express by entering your full library card number and creating a pin number. Once you've registered at the Library, you will be able to access the resource at home through the Library's web site. After login, select "Jobs and Careers" and then select "Civil Service." You will then have access to a number of E-Tests and E-Books and can save them in "My Center" in order to retake and review them. There are three sample E-tests and three E-books available on taking the Civil Service exam and four E-tests and three E-books on preparing for the Federal clerical worker exam. A perfect source for anyone preparing for these Federal exams.
