Q

Does your catalog or do you have a search engine that includes accelerated reader information?

Accelerated Reader is a program used by Huntsville City schools. It is part of Renaissance Learning. They rate books based on difficulty and assign points based on length.

Answer

The easist way to find Accelerated Reader information is to use http://www.arbookfind.com. You can search lots of ways to generate a list of titles appropriate for your child.

Once you create a list, you will need to check our online catalog at http://hvpl.ent.sirsi.net/client/public to see if one of our branches has a copy. Regardless of whether the book is checked out or available, you may place a hold on it using your library card number and four digit PIN. If the book is checked out, you will get an e-mail once it comes in for you. If it is on the shelf, a librarian will pull it for you and place it on the holds shelf. You will receive an e-mail to let you know it is waiting for you.

Please let us know if you have any follow-up questions.
