Q. Can you tell me what’s included in the Britannica Online School Edition?

Answer

The Britannica School Edition (http://school.eb.com/), available through AVL, is organized into three sections: one for elementary school, one for middle school and one for high school. Each level includes level-appropriate reference articles, journals and magazines, multimedia and curriculum content. Each level also includes a Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a World Atlas and a Workspace within which students can copy and store articles for projects. One can search all levels or limit searches to a specific level. The Elementary School level also includes an animated ‘Learning Zone’ where young students can follow visual lessons on reading, vocabulary, numbers, sounds, shapes, geographical areas, etc. The site contains Learning Materials that are correlated to the Alabama State Standards. There is also a section that includes instructional materials for teachers. The site also includes links to other reference databases such as 21st Century Explorer, Encyclopedia Juvenil, Global Reference Center, Image Quest and Annals of America.
