Q. How do I find books about people?

I have to do a report about a famous person for school, and my teacher wants me to use books only.

Huntsville-Madison County Public Library provides books about people (biographies, autobiographies, and memoirs) in print, audiobook, and digital formats.

To find print books and audiobooks on CD, search the online catalog using the person's name as your keywords. If the book is in the biography section, the call number will start with a "B" or "YAB" for young adult titles and "JB" for children's titles.

Once you find a book or audiobook you want, you may place a hold on it by typing in your library card number and four digit PIN. If the item is in on the shelf, we will pull it for you. If the item is checked out, it will be trapped for you when it comes back in. Either way, you will be notified by e-mail once it is available at the location you designated.

If you want a biography in digital form -- book or audiobook -- for your tablet, eReader, or MP3 player, visit the Digital Media Zone. You may browse for titles, but to download, you will need to log in with your library card number and four digit PIN.

If you are looking for a book on a specific person, you may simply type in the person's name in the "Digital Media Search" box. If you want to browse what is available, click on the "Advanced Search" link under the search box. Next to "Subject," click on the dropdown arrow and select "Biography & Autobiography." You may also limit your search to a specific type of format before you hit "Search."
