One good source is the "St. James Encyclopedia of Popular Culture" available through the Gale Virtual Library on the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL). This resource includes more than 2700 signed essays ranging from a paragragh to multi-pages on signifcant pop culture events from the 20th Century. These articles are written by subject experts and edited to form a consistent, readable and straightforward reference. Many articles include photographs and all include a bibliography on the subject for further research. Topics inlcude music, literature, films and telelvision.
