Q. Can I download eBooks or eAudiobooks from the library to my Mac?


Yes you can download eBooks or eAudiobooks to your Mac.

You will need:
•A Mac computer
•Your library card number and pin number

What you need to do:

1.Install software

The following formats can by used on a Mac computer. Use the links below to install the required software.

◦EPUB or PDF eBooks – Adobe Digital Editions
◦MP3 audio – OverDrive Media Console
◦Kindle Books – Kindle for Mac or Kindle Cloud Reader

Note: Kindle Books can be transferred from your computer, or delivered wirelessly to Kindle devices over a Wi-Fi connection.

2.Browse, check out, download

To get started, browse dmz.hmcpl.org to find the eBook or eAudiobook that you would like to borrow. Click to add the book to your eBookbag. (If it says to place a hold you will have to wait until the book has been returned to check it out.) Proceed to check out, or if you want to keep browsing, you can click on My eBookBag to check out when you're done browsing. Click on the download button to download the book to your device.

For Kindle Books, the Get for Kindle button will take you to Amazon's website to deliver the book to your Kindle or Kindle reading app.


eBooks:If you want to read an EPUB or PDF eBook, use Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). You can also use ADE to transfer eBooks to the eBook reader of your choice.

Audio titles: If you want to listen to an audiobook, use OverDrive Media Console (OMC). To make your titles portable, you can use OMC to transfer them to an iPod or MP3 player.
