Q. Where can I find reliable online information on alternative medicine?

There are many questionable sources online regarding alternative medicines. The Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) contains several websites that provide reliable information. "MedlinePlus" is one excellent source; another is "The Gale Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine, 3rd edition" found in the Gale Virtual Reference Library on the AVL. This is an online version of a four volume print resource that was published in 2009. It covers many aspects of alternative medicine including, therapies, herbs/plants used in treatments, Chinese medicine, osteopathy, yoga, acupuncture, and other tradtional and new types of treatments. An excellent source for students writing health papers and for general users curious about these alternative treatments.
