Q. Is there a place on the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) that lists which magazines, journals and newspapers are full-text?
The Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) can be an intimidating place with so many resources to search. One very useful site is "Serials Solutions," a database on the AVL that searches across all the periodical databases on the AVL and locates which titles are held in full-text and how far back each title is held in each databases. The database then allows you to link to the articles from the various databases. A search returning zero results means that it is not held full-text within any of the AVL databases. "Serials Solutions" allows you to quckly determine whether a magazine, journal or newspaper is available through the AVL in a single step; you won't have to do multiple searches through the different databases to find if your article is held full-text.
